Vintage Organ, Free to a Good Home

October 2023

In 2023, my boyfriend cheated on me. Desperate to avoid solitude, I drove from Cincinnati to Chicago to stay with a friend. The next morning, my friend found a vintage digital organ on Craigslist in Gary, Indiana and he needed a ride. I took my camera and brought these photos back with me.

Shot on Cannon M50. Early soviet era lens; 50mm f/1.8; unknown manufacturer.

Postcard graphic reading Greetings From Gary over a photo of the ruin Ivy-covered exterior of the ruined building with gothic stone windows Interior view down the nave toward a large broken stained-glass window Graffiti-covered brick doorway reading HELL, surrounded by overgrown plants Graffiti-covered balcony overlooking a dark room below Dim, green-lit hallway with abandoned office chairs and boxes Grainy night shot of an old broken CRT monitor and electronics
